About the Detachment

Detachment 130 was established in 1946, immediately following World War II.

It is hosted by Howard University and is located in Washington, DC. Detachment 130 prides itself in having a diverse corps of cadets, following it's motto "Strength through diversity".

Our cadet corps is comprised of cadets who attend through our consortium from American University, Catholic University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Marymount University, Trinity University and the University of the District of Columbia.

Our detachment has a five member cadre unit comprised of four active duty military personnel (three commissioned officers and one noncommissioned officers), and a civilian employee. The cadre personnel are here to provide training, recruiting and administrative actions for cadets.

In addition to academic classes, cadets participate in Leadership Laboratory each semester. Leadership Laboratory provides cadets an opportunity for hands-on leadership training and experimentation.

Choosing to participate in becoming an officer in the United States Air Force will be one of the best decisions you can ever make! YOU are the next generation of the United States Air Force.
